Dorothy Elizabeth Field was the eldest daughter of Richard Charles Field (Nellie’s younger brother) and Lilian Jessie Ayton. Dorothy married Lancelot Thomas (about 1921) and it is thought that her chest was carved then.   They had three sons, Richard, Peter and Robert.
