Nellie carved this settle for one of her brothers, George Westfield Field (1862-1935) who married Ethel Archer. They had 8 children.
Atkinson says “The design on the back of this settle was unusually elaborate and graceful, and the legend it bore was ‘Home Keeping Hearts are Happiest’”
